Hello there,

For reasons I won't go into here I've had to make the move to MacBook Pro.

This is fine apart from the fact that I do use Dreamweaver/Fireworks fairly regularly. I do some hand coding as well but do use both of these apps.

I'm still trying to work out how usable they are going to be - but in the meantime, I wondered if there were any Universal alternatives to consider until full versions of Dreamweaver and Fireworks are available.

Thanks,

Simon

Depending on how much you used Dreamweaver and how in depth you were with it would determine what could be a suitable program for you. If you use it just to code and do live preview, there's skEdit which is Universal and also CSSEdit 2, which go hand in hand. Both have trial versions and I recommend using them to see how/if they can benefit you.

As far as Fireworks, I couldn't help in that area, but again it's related to how well/in depth you use it. If you use it occasionally for simple editing, you can more than likely get away with using Fireworks on your MBPro, as long as you have sufficient RAM (2GB would be perfect).

I'm using a MacBook with 2GB of RAM and Photoshop CS2 works fine for me since I don't use it for everyday heavy image editing. I do however use the other 2 programs for web design and they work perfect. Hope that helps!

Try TextMate if you can hand code. If its still a problem I'll trade you my powerbook for your macbook.
