No, I don't want anyone to break their NDAs. I just want to know how long you think it will take for Apple to get Leopard Beta to all the Premier and Select members. Everyone at WWDC got it already, and those of use who didn't go (but still paid our money for a membership) have to wait. But how long?

Too long. Anything other than a simultaneous release was too long, in fact. I don't know about you, but when I coughed up my cash for Select ADC membership, I took the following claim on the Leopard Early Start Kit web page a little too literally, it seems:

"Fast track your Mac OS X Leopard development by downloading the latest pre-release versions of Mac OS X Leopard and Xcode 3.0"

(Interestingly, up to yesterday, the dev center seed page said, "latest versions of Leopard as they become available" - they got rid of "as they become available" yesterday, only two days after I complained about precisely that phrase in an e-mail to them - I bet I wasn't the only one.)

"Latest pre-release versions," note. Back when I paid my cash, Apple mentioned nothing about stratifying and giving a beta "first" to WWDC attendees (I wish I could have gone, but there was just no way). I'm actually a little surprised that more developers aren't kicking up a stink about this. I'm really, really outraged, so I guess other devs must just have lives or something.

Best,
Keith

Apple folks have said that another seed is forthcoming.

Have they? When did they say that? I e-mailed them but I have only received a standard "we're looking into it reply". After receiving a note from the bug reporting department asking me to check a bug I had reported against the WWDC beta, I got a little shirty and fired off a narky e-mail to the dev seed folk about how it's a little, um, immoral to be advertising the "latest", "newest" versions but not providing them, but again, I haven't heard back (note to self: never send e-mails in a bad mood after a couple of beers).

Best,
Keith

On CarbonDev, somebody asked when they'd be able to know which Carbon API would be 64-bit-capable, and one of the Apple guys answered "soon, like in the next seed."
