My dock has been giving me weird menus and I don't know how to fix these. Any suggestions?
Here's and example of the weird menu...

This happened to me after I edited dockmenus.strings in the dock package - I was wanting to get rid of the 'open at login' and 'remove from dock' options, but removing them from the list just reverted them to their defaults, as pictured.

Ok, so, using time machine, I was able to go into the contents of the Dock.app and hit restore. This got me around the message "Dock.app cannot be replaced as it is currently in use." (or something like that).
Then I used the terminal to restart the dock. (Type "killall Dock" in the terminal w/o the quotes)

Right, cool. I had actually backed up the original file before editing it so was able to just copy it back in. I don't have an external drive for Time Machine so have to think of these things . I probably need to repair permissions anyway though.
