I really wish I had time to program these days. The iPhone SDK looks fun.
However..

I want an iPhone app that you can audio record birdcalls (5 to 10 seconds), convert to a signature (fft maybe) and compare to a database to display the bird's name and thumbnail image. Hold maybe a 1000 most common signatures locally and go to the net for a bigger database if it doesn't match.

A big problem here is recording.. the SDK doesn't support accessories and the built in mic sucks.
