Hi all
I haven't done any programming for over 15 years and would like to start again programming for the iphone. I have the latest SDK from apple and am not sure where to start.
I have previously used Basic, Pascal and C++when I had A PowerMac 8500.

I currently have a MacBook Pro 17", 2.6 MHz Core 2 Duo with a 200 MB HD.
Suggestions on Books, tutorials and any extra software needed would be appreciated.
Regards

I'm hoping you meant 200GB, not 200MB...

Anyway, to start programming for the iPhone, you'll want to learn Objective-C and Cocoa. One of the most often recommended books (the one I myself used) is Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X (3rd Edition) by Aaron Hillegass. The newest version includes all the new features in Objective-C 2.0 that you'll be using in iPhone development. Once you've got your mind around all that, learning the iPhone-specific frameworks are a breeze.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

I will see If I can get a copy here in Australia.
Hopefully the iPhone will be available soon in Australia and I can start programming in earnest.

Aarons' book is the starting point for Cocoa and will take you to an advanced intermediate or even expert level. However, if you are just starting with objective c, see Kochan's book "Programming in Objective C". Very clear and a logical prelude to the Cocoa book.

Though by now the Kochan book is somewhat out of date, as it covers mostly only the basic language features and some parts of Foundation. An updated version using modern Objective-C idioms would be awesome.
