Hi All,

Quick (but likely futile) question. Is it possible to print a PDF in OS X, while presenting a "Print Dialog" without using a middleman (e.g. Preview)? Basically, I have an application that outputs rendered data to PDF. I then need to print that data and make it appear as though the application is natively printing the information directly. This is strictly about appearance to the customer -- no more, no less. I'm aware that I could simply push the PDF to the print queue, but I want the full "Print Experience" (i.e. Printer Select, Landscape/Portrait, Paper Type, etc.)

I can't explain the WHY'S of what I'm doing without breaking various agreements, but suffice it to say that I'm looking for a standalone GUI print mechanism via which I can handle PDFs.

Thanks in advance.

From the print dialog you can exercise the "full print experience" and then click PDF->Save to PDF... instead of clicking Print.

Sure. Create a PDFView and tell it to print.

I might try that. Thanks. Again, though, it's about appearance. Can this be done via AppleScript or via an existing subsystem app or library?

Unfortunately, I'm using RealBasic for this particular project, not XCode. So I don't have access to PDFViewer. I'd need to create it as a standalone app. As I said, I might end up trying that, but I want to check all my options first.

Thanks again.
