Is sharing the iCloud API documents kosher? I don't want to pay to become an Apple developer to kick the tires on looking at these docs to see what sorts of things iCloud supports particularly in regards to web integration. Would any of you be comfortable if not sharing the documents themselves answering some questions about them?

"Register for free and get access to technical resources, tools, and information for developing with iOS, Mac OS X and Safari."
Last I knew you only needed to pay to self/apple store publish iOS apps.

Indeed, and the last thing I want to do is spend $99 to find out that there is no way to expose iCloud to the web.

I'm betting the answer is no though I don't have access. I think the client has to be an iOS or Mac application. Are you looking to share data between a website and an application? I don't think iCloud is intended for that at all.

I think I signed up once when it used to be free... let me log in and search... nope, I get "the Program that you are enrolled in does not have access to this resource." when I try to click your icloud link.

is this useful?

I'm glad I'm not insane and/or blind!

Not really, CoreData is an iOS thing. I'm looking for a RESTful API for authenticating and pulling user info from iCloud, particularly calendar data. This can be done with Google Calendar including iCal -> Google Calendar, but it would be sweet if this would work with iCloud too since calendar publishing to iCloud is so seamless now.

FWIW it was never free. There have always been basic free accounts with very little access but before the paid account was $99 it was several thousand. You did get a one off hardware discount of 30% though. That was per year. The fee and the discount.

Doesn't it kind of piss some of you off that you have to pay Apple to potentially make their products better and increase their profits? Yes, a developer obviously stands to gain too, but still. Plus, it seems very nickel and diming to me...

Also, if anybody is willing to shed any light on the whole iCloud web integration beyond what has been said here, if there is anything more to say, that would be great!

I just wish Apple would fix Xcode.
The current version of Xcode has to be the most unstable development tool I've ever used. I'm not an MS proponent, but Visual Basic was the Rock of Gilbraltar compared to Xcode.
When Xcode isn't having some kind of fatal internal error, it's great.
But crashing because I moved the mouse or edited a line of text or, for that matter, just looked at Xcode the wrong way is just not right.
And don't get me started on Xcode's memory mis-management. There are some serious memory leaks in Xcode. Just run it for a few hours and the swap file grows to humongous sizes. Quit Xcode and everything goes back to normal.
If Apple's productivity apps were coded like Xcode, Apple would fail. That is how bad it is.
