I was wondering if any has experience with the PC emulation programs and whether they allow one to play windows cd's on a mac?

I'm about to purchase a laptop, but after encountering "windows" CD-Roms that won't play on my mac and Java Software developer Kits that are more advanced versions for windows than for mac, i'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't go to the Darkside of the force and buy a PC laptop?!

the dark side won't help my friend! I encountered the same problem when I took my JAVA class last fall. I was running all the pc programs on virtual pc to write, edit and run.
remember that you can run most of the basic java programs through MRJ and myabe get the student version of "codewarrior"

hope this helps

Thanks Badr,

I'll bear that in mind for sure. I have MRJ ready to install as soon as i get my imac uncrashed.

I'll probably go with discovering coding version of code warrior until my progress warrants the full and extremely expensive version, and use a free download of a C/++ compiler from somewhere like Borland.com.

In the mean time i feel a clean install or system restore or something similar coming on ---i am getting a time synchronizer type-41 error and when I try to fix certain files i am getting "startup disk locked" (which BTW has stymied Tech Tool Pro 3).

I'm leaning back to "the Force" because I am finding that it is no fun to be unable to use my mac for even a day.
