Hey guys. We're planning a forum restructure to better represent areas of interest.
Here's a proposal that has to do with Developer posts. Feel free to suggest changes, vote against it, for it, or whatever.
All right. We want to keep OS X - Developer the way it is (Cocoa/Carbon). We're _probably_ going to create a UNIX hacker/CLI Mac OS X forum. That can absorb all of the configuration/compilation discussion. Hopefully, we'll also create a Web Development forum (HTML, PHP, Apache usage, MySQL, &c.)
This leaves the (non-OS X) Developer forum with only Classic API and AppleScripting questions. Most of the classic questions (there aren't that many) can be carbonated anyways, so I don't think we'll need the forum for that. We could either take away Developer, or turn it into an Scripting (AppleScript/Perl) forum.
So the final product for OS X:
- OS X Developer. Cocoa and Carbon discussion.
- UNIX forum (not sure about the name, yet). Compiling, configuring, &c.
- Web Development. HTML, PHP, MySQL, &c.
Suggest changes! Post your thoughts.

It would go in OS X UNIX. General CLI C/C++ is a *nixy sort of thing, so I figure it could go there.
<reposted from OS X Developer>
Based on Scott's suggestions, please vote on Plan 1, 2, or 3:
Plan 1:
OS X Developer (as is)
OS X UNIX & Hacking
Web Development & Scripting
Plan 2:
OS X Developer (as is)
OS X UNIX and Web Developer (includes AppleScript)
Plan 3:
Leave as is.
I pretty much like Plan 1 or 2, although in #2 AppleScript seems a little out of place. Anyway, it's up to you guys since you use it.
(parallax, since you mod all the dev forums and no others, maybe an announcement and link to this thread would be useful since it would show up in all the dev forums but not any others ... it's up to you though)
thanks,
gzl

Closing this one. We'll use the one in OS X Developer for all the suggestions.
