Using Project Builder under OS X, I decided to write my programs using Mac OS Development tools ( Is till can't believe we get all these tools for free) Anyway, after I wrote my program, it would not build. I keep getting this error message...

Build Failed (see build log for details)
...failed StandaloneExecutable.LinkUsingFileList /Users/kwoo/Documents/CIS 3100/Assignments/build/Assignments ...

What does this mean? I know this program works cause I used the same exact file with Microsoft's Visual Basic C++ and it built fine and ran too. What am I missing here? Thanks from an unexperienced programmer....

Hi maximawoo,

From my own (admittedly very brief!) experiments with Apple's Project Builder (PB), it sounds as if the PB linker can't find some object code, library or framework... Double check to ensure that your PB Target Options are set up correctly.

In addition, you mentioned that your source code compiled, linked & ran fine under the MS Visual C++ IDE / Developer Studio... Is your source code "pure" ANSI C/C++, or might it have hidden dependencies on Windows-specific libraries or APIs?

[BTW, in case you didn't already know it, there's also a dedicated OS X - Developer Forum here on MacNN.]

Regards,

--Paul
