I'm a windows developer looking at developing for the Mac. Now before you recomend books like learning C++, I've read them already... hell I've developed in MFC (the pain; the unending, everlasting, debilitiating pain!), I've also done command line linux stuff (Man do they need a development environment.. I'm sorry but I'm in love with visual studio and straight code via emacs, pico, joe or *shudder* vi is a version of hell I wouldn't even wish on Bill Gates himself)

I don't know Objective C, I can read Java but am not entirely fluent in it, and am interested in jumping directly into window based programming for the Mac (Preferably Carbon and Cocca).

What else do I know? Well alot of web scripting, PHP, VB, MySQL, I've written one or two command line FreeBSD daemons- hell I even know shockwave (some one needs to loose some gonads at Macromedia for the hell they put a lingo developer though)

Anyways, what help/advice could you offer me? I am unfortunatly alone when it comes to a guru who's shoulder I can look over (that's how I learned every thing else) as I'm the only power user for macs within 200 miles. Gees you'd think a town of 50 000 would have at least more than 7 Mac users. But I'm off topic...

Please Recomend some good books, and Amazing websites... (Hell I'm trying to start one... but that takes time and knowledge, both of which I don't have )

Thanks Alot
Cambo

You might want to check out CodewarriorU for loads of links to pages containing information about programming for the mac.

Also, check out some of Apple's pages for information on programming Cocoa, Carbon.

I don't know if this is the kind of stuff that you're after, but you could have a look at these threads from the Mac OS X Developer forum:
Newbie programming and
The Newbie FAQ

There's plenty of links on the above two pages that you can investigate.

Hope this helps!

The best development program out there IMHO. I wrote my first app in less than 5 minutes.
