Hi there,

Does anybody know if the stuffit compression algorithm is available publicly anywhere? I've been looking around for it and can't find it anywhere. Is it closed source?

I'm learning about compression in a course I'm taking right now, and I'm interested in seeing how the stuffit compression algorithm works.

As far as I know, Stuffit has always been proprietary, although the decompression tools are distributed for free.

Wotsit's File Formats (www.wotsit.org) has no info on Stuffit.

You can download the Stuffit SDK at:
ftp://ftp.aladdinsys.com/pub/mac/StuffIt_Engine_SDK/

I don't know how much info it contains about the file format and algorithms, but why not take a look?
