I know this was brought up before but couldn't find the prev posts...
Back in Jan (?) we (ADC Student Developers) recieved are usual mailing. In it it spoke on disounts, even hardware. However after searching the website and calling the Apple Store it seems this did not exsite. Well guess what I found today:
http://developer.apple.com/students/sthardware.html
Looks like we DO get a 1 time only 20% discount, ala fax to Apple.
Well since I already own my Ti looks like I missed out on that, but maybe a tower w/ Flat Panel in the near future will be worthy.
Have fun with your discounted hardware.
Mike
PS: And to those who are not student developers just remember it only cost $99 and you get alot of other nice discounts too (OS X Server or WebOjects for $99 are two other steals)

As far as I know this is true, however Apple certainly does not publicize it very much; probably to prevent people from abusing the program. I've also heard that you might even need to go so far as to prove to them that you are taking/have taken relevant computer science courses, but I haven't tried to get my discount yet (maybe next rev for iBook or Ti), so I can't say for sure.

I had to fax a current class schedule and provide a point of contact, although they didn't call. There is always the chance they might on an order though so play it kosher.

I'm glad they are doing some kind of checking, though I hope the fact that I'm a grad student and not taking any courses at all currently doesn't screw me over. I'd hate to see a bunch of people abuse the plan and then watch the student developper rates jump to 300$ a year.

Also, they *DO* prosecute people who resell their hardware -- so don't expect to be able to get your 20% discounted TiBook and sell it on at 15% profit!

Hey I'll keep any mac hardware I can get my hands on. BTW, I didn't post this to advertise the discount to non-developers as a cheap way to get discounts.
Hardware discounts are a pretty common question for newbie developers and condidering I myself was asking this question on this very board and wasn't given a satisfying responce I thought I'd share the URL.
As for myself I'll prob wait till I can afford a top of the line tower w/ LCD before I use it. My Ti500 will satisfy me till then.
