hi--(posted this in support as well)

anyone know why talk doesnt work in the terminal?

1. create a new user
2. open up 2 new terminal windows and su to the new user in one window
3. in both windows type mesg y--this turns on the ability to receive messages in the terminal
4. in your home user window type talk <new user name>
5. watch what happens...you can not connect to the other user

does anyone know why this doesnt work? checked the man pages, etc...

thx

You have to enable the ntalkd daemon in /etc/inetd.conf . I don't think there's a GUI way to do that, so you'll need to edit the file directly (as root).

This sounds more like a support issue.

I'm moving this to OS X - Support.
