The e-mail said that a new build was on its way. Have any students received their new OS X candidate release?

Not me. I thought it would be here by now. With the GM coming in on Sat I wonder if I should even bother playing with it.

I haven't received it yet. In fact, I haven't even received my March mailing yet! Maybe they got lost. I did receive my renewal package, though.

I'm a student developer and I'm still waiting on mine (in Chicago, IL). Why did they go to all of the trouble of sending a huge NDA reminder when we're not necessarily going to have the final product, and we might not even have this pre-release version before the real thing is available??

Yes, I'm impatient. =)

I got a nice envelope from Apple titled "March Delta Seed" yesterday the 19th, postmarked March 16th. Inside was the licensce agreement, a copy of the email we all got, and two CD's - MacOS X Release Candidate Installation and a Dev Tools CD. And yes, the release is 4k78. I live near Sacramento.

Yeah, this whole thing seems a little silly to me. I'm a 15 minute drive from Cupertino, I wonder if there's an option to pick up my student mailings in person? Last mail has already arrived today, so the official release has now officially beet my developer release.

I finally received mine tonight. Phew.. Luckily I didn't make plans for tonight so I can play with OS X until my eyes fall out. It's kind of cool to have the generic-looking OS X disk that says "CONFIDENTIAL". =)

What is everyone's thoughts on this being EXACTLY the same as the GM? Should I just wait for the GM to arrive in like a week or so, and not bother installing the release candidate?

I haven't received anything yet... Boooh...

(I'm in Canada. Any students from Canada received the package? Adam, did you?)

adamwsoccer: it seems that the Release Candidate and the GM are indeed one and the same. I haven't performed any comparison myself since I have neither the RC nor the GM... but a number of folks have done so and came to the conclusion that they're exactly the same thing.

So, I'd say go ahead and install the RC.

Got my Student RC here Friday. Sweet.

Americans should never complain about their postal system until they've seen what the rest of us have to put up with. ("Saturday delivery? What a concept!")

I got my Release Candidate yesterday, Friday, here in New Brunswick, Canada.

So everyone agrees that this is the same as the retail version? I dunno, even if it's 99.9% the same, that 0.1% bugs me. Oh well. I'm going to be quite busy this week, so I guess I'll wait and see. or.... I'll go insane waiting and just install the Release Candidate!
