I am curently using LinuxPPC to write mathematical programms. I use the Gnu compilers gcc and mainly g77 as i use mainly Fortran. Any chance of using them in OS X with XonX?
cheers

If you modify the configuration files for those compilers before compiling them they should work. When I was in residence a few months ago I had alot of Linux buddies. One of them decided that I NEEDED gcc so he compiled it on my machine through telnet while I was at a class. I don't remember if I ended up using it before I reformatted and repartitioned my drive but he claimed that it would work. He said that some settings had to be changed to tell it to write Darwin code on PPC. Since you are using PPC hardware, I wouldn't expect the required changes to be too drastic. I am not sure, though. I tend not to be picky with compilers.

Well actually... Apocalypse, you didn't fully answer his questions.

Apple includes a heavily hacked gcc called cc... I'm not sure what version is, but I think it's 2.95.x or something. There is no g77. People have tried to port it in the past, but have been unsuccessful. I think that the new gcc 3.0.0 port might include it, though. I have no idea how far along it is, however.

For a cheap Fortran alternative, look for f2c. f2c was(is?) a set of sed macros that converted fortran to c for compilation. IIRC, it is GNU, so you may have luck at the Linux sites
