So, I can post this to the Apple debug reporting tool, I have to post to a public forum, fine:

For the first time I have had Mac OS X crash on me:

When:
Running Mac OS 10.1.3 with Norton Systemworks 2.0 (norton antivirus updated to 8.0.1 with liveupdate). When the dockling macreport runs, the kernel crashes with the following trace:

****
Unresolved kernel trap (cpu 0): 0x300.....

Backtrace:
kernel loadable modules in backtrace:
com.Symantec.kext.Delete Trap (1.0.0d1)
kernel loadable module dependencies:
com.Symantec.SymOSXkernelUtilities (1.0.0.d2)

kernel version:
Darwin kernel Version 5.3:
Thu Jan 24 22:06:02 PST 2002
***
I have omitted the value of the registered reported byt he backtrace, too much typing.

May be Symantec or apple could look at it. It is not fun to loose work after a kernel crash.

Cheers,
Joao

Looks like Symantec's fault. Tell them (INCLUDE THE FULL BACKTRACE, you know, all the 0xAF8374 and whatever). We can't help you.

Agreed. It's crashing in the Symantec kernel extension. If it weren't a kernel extension, I'd say it's Apple's fault. But kernel extensions have kernel access and can crash the system. So you should contact Symantec.
