Has anyone had any luck trying / getting the SR (Synchronising Resources) programming language to compile?

I can't get the Makefile to finish without generating an error. I'm gonna give up 'cos I'm wasting too much time on it, I'll have to ssh into my university's compsci lab computers to get my practical done unless someone else can get it to compile.

Source can be found on the web page at: http://www.cs.arizona.edu/sr/impl.html
or
Source & documentation : ftp://ftp.cs.arizona.edu/sr/sr.tar.Z
New hardware port verification suite : ftp://ftp.cs.arizona.edu/sr/vs.tar.Z

The Makefile and Configure are really simple files, well commented, but it's the error it generates that I can't figure out.

Can anyone help please?
TIA

Jeezus. This is the only time i've ever heard of SR outside of my degree course. And I have to say, it sucked then.

Java has just as intelligent synchronization (which is what SR is all about) and a hell of a lot of other stuff as well.

Unless you're teaching a degree course, what on earth do you want it for?

Not teaching, being taught! I'm doing a module for my computer science degree called "Principles of Distributed Computing" which for some reason insists on using SR for the first (and possibly subsequent) practical. I know it sucks, but there's sod all I can do about it!

Eeek, you poor thing.

I should add, when they tried to teach me synchronization with SR, i didn't have a clue what they were talking about. But when I started using it in Java, it all made sense.

I think you should suggest this to your lecturer. SR is a traditional, theoretical teaching language - but in practise, it just sucks.
