hi guys! this may have been covered before so if it has, just point me to where i need to go. that said, i'm interesting in getting into application development for os x. i've got some experience with older languages and haven't done much recently -- but would like to get back into it and i figure the open architecture as well as support community for writing for os x is a good enough reason to.

so -- if anyone could point me towards some sort of resource, but it a book or website or whatever, that would be the best place to start learning this stuff, i'd appreciate it greatly.

thanks!

For quick, generally short lessons, go to http://www.cocoadevcentral.com , and click on the "Bare Basics" link. It's a fairly decent site, and is regularly updated.

You can also take a look at http://www.cocoadev.com .

If you find yourself enjoying it, you might want to pick up a copy of Apple's "Learning Cocoa," which is available through O'Reilly. It's not the best resource for Cocoa, but it does include some detailed tutorials, as well as some discussion of the more abstract notions of object oriented coding. For information about specific classes, go to http://developer.apple.com and follow the links to the OS X coding reference.

Finally, you'd be wise to join the cocoa-dev mailing list (join at http://lists.apple.com ) and the macosx-dev mailing list moderated by Omnigroup ( http://www.omnigroup.com/developer/m...sts/macosx-dev ).

A Google search, particulary in Groups, is frequently fruitful as well.
