My university limits the bandwidth that students have for off-campus access to their comps. So a creative ComSci student created a Java program to access an on campus server and DL FTPs through that. I would like the help of the people on this forum to compile it into an OS X app. He has released the classes <a href="http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53077" target="_blank">here</a>. Please help us, this could be a very good thing for OS X adoption on campus. Oh, and please post the app so I can DL and try it. No one but students can access the on campus server. Sorry <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Uhhhh....if it's Java...there is no porting required.

You can use MRJ app builder if you really want to wrap it in an app bundle--but why bother?
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

I have no idea how to make it an app or how to run it. All that was released were the classes. You can get then at the link in my last post. If you don't want to do it, tell me how.

That means absolutely nothing to me. Could you try it yourself, please?

First, the author should just distribute it as a jar.

But, since he doesn't, a little poking around and:

java -cp metouia.jar:. jsd.JStrangeDownloader

But, he uses java.net.NetworkInterface which wasn't implemented until JDK 1.4 which hasn't made it to OS X yet.

So, we have both wasted our time. <img border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" title="" src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" />

Call back in one month.
