With framebuffer support now in CVS for the latest GTK, new possibilities are presented for running GTK without X Windows and therefore, on MacOS X.
(see http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=0...p;mode=thread)
<p>
My question to the readers here on the developer forum is this:
what kind of direct framebuffer writing is Darwin capable of?
<p>
Check <a href="http://www.macgimp.org">MacGIMP.org</a> for details.

IOKit is perfectly capable of handling framebuffers or something. Anyway, why would you need to run it without X Windows on OS X when you can run X Windows side by side with Quartz/Aqua/WindowManager?

(Yes you can, check out http://mrcla.com/XonX/)
