Hi all,

I have the following problem: I can't install the devtools "October..." on MacOSX beta build 4F8.

I do the following:
- download the file .tar.gz
- untar it
- double click on the file developer.pkg
- accept the agreement
- select the disk MacOSX

then the installation starts, but istantaneously I receive the error "couldn't write bom to path" and the installation process fails.

I tried all the tips suggested on the discussion groups: login as root, use gnutar, tar ,stuffit expander, openup, various browsers for downloading, reinstall OSX, set the access privileges of the disk and the folders. Anyway I receive the same error. In addition, this error is shown if I try to install anything.

Anybody can help me?

Thanks.

I don't know about the errors when you're trying to install other apps, but the problem with the dev tools is unstuffing them in X. Why it makes a difference, I don't know. But for some reason, you have to unstuff them in 9, not even classic but straight 9, then boot back into X and run the installer. Shouldn't make a difference, especially if you have Stuffit Expander 6.0, but it does.
