I am looking for some advice on where to go next. Here's my background: I learned BASIC on an Apple II, Fortran in college (8 yrs ago), I just finished C Primer Plus and Learning Cocoa.

I would like to focus on Obj C and Cocoa, but I am not opposed to learning other languages if it will help me. For instance, would it be valuable to learn a language like SmallTalk or Java? I am basically looking to become a better programmer, so info on programming theory might also be helpful. I would appreciate any book or web references. I have to say upfront that I am not really interested in online courses.

Oh yeah, is there a good compilation of the Cocoa frameworks that is readable? The project builder help stuff is great, but I would just like to browse through a book so that I can get a feel for what is available to me.

thanks,
kman

Experimenting with other languages is always a good thing, but it's probably not worth it until you're proficient in your preferred one

I would pick a project or two, and then just work your way through that, trying to figure things out yourself, and asking for help on mailing lists (cocoa-dev@lists.apple.com, macosx-dev@omnigroup.com) and so on when you get completely stuck
