Can anyone get BlueJ to run (It's a free compiler I'm using for my CS class)
www.bluej.org
I can get the installation to work, but I can't get the bluej file to execute from the command line. It says something like command not found.
Can anyone help?

I bet it's not in you "path". The "path" is a list of directories that the shell searches of executables. Look in your .cshrc file (if you're using csh or tcsh) and add the path to the software there. Should look something like this.

set path = ($path /bluej'slocation/bin )

that will add "/bluej'slocation/bin" to the end of $path

do an

>echo $path

to see what the path is

Scott_H's solution is the best one, if you plan on keeping the software long term. However, If you like to doodle around like I do (and just test out packages ) then you can get away with just typing

./bluej

from the bluej directory -the period points to your current directory.
