Currently I use NT at work, and Win98 at home . I'm replacing my home PC (AMD 330 Mhz) with a notebook, and thought I'd get an iBook (icebook), because I'm bored with Windows, want an environment that's a bit more imaginative, plus I want to do some media stuff with my DV camcorder, etc.
The development I'm doing at home is J2ME, and I want to use JBuilder (almost ready for MacOS X) as my IDE. Also it's likely Sun will port some of their tools (eg: Wireless Toolkit). I'm sure there will be some stuff I'll miss, but I'm confident I can get a core development environment up and running.
My question is, does this seem like a reasonable proposition?
Anybody else have a similar setup as their development environment?
Also, anybody got any ideas if it's worth waiting around until the end of next month see if the iBook gets upgraded, or shall I just go for some of the cheap deals around at the minute?

Talking about Sun tools, the Solaris version of Forte for Java works under OS X. Also, about the update, though there may be a price cut, I think it's unlikely Apple would introduce a new iBook in this poor economy. Although the Christmas buying season is coming up...

Forte 3.0 works kind of, the older 2.0 was fine. I had a problem this weekend with 3.0 and an infinite loop that ate about 85% of my DP500. I tried NetBeans 3.2.1 an was pleasantly surprised (the Open Source foundation of Forte). It's OS X support is MUCH better and it runs as advertised. I would expect the next JBuilder would work fine as well as long as it adheres to Beans as I have heard before.
