Has anyone (especially anyone actually at WWDC) heard when Apple is releasing the Public Preview of their Java 1.4 JVM for OS X? They promised it by WWDC, but I haven't heard anything about it since that announcement. I was hoping it would correspond to the Java State of the Union session yesterday evening, but there's nothing up yet on ADC.

I could do with 1.4 soon as well. It's apparently part of Jaguar, of course, but that's some way off.

It not only bothers me that I have to wait for Java 1.4 on the Mac, it bothers me that it is so hard to find information about when it will be introduced. Is Apple being purposely tight-lipped about this or is it just neglect? No matter, as a developer, I would like to at least get an estimate on when it will be available. If we have to wait for Jaguar, so be it, but let us know so we can plan around it.

They publicly stated that a developer preview would be available by WWDC 2002, so I fully assume that we will either get it or get an explanation for why it's late very soon. It's just weird that they haven't mentioned anything else about it since they made that statement.

While I would assume it'll be part of Jaguar as well, to my knowledge, Apple hasn't actually said that, and it was my understanding that they were planning to have 1.4 out before September. I hope we get it sooner, with just an update with Jaguar.
