The article is categorized as "Apr 01, 2002 - Editorial:Humor" on their homepage. I can't believe that someone would believe this. Do people really think Apple is that stupid or that they would purposfully handicap their OS?

It can be useful to write a custom subclass of NSObject which, every so often, calls [self freeWhenNotNeeded]

Actually, it probably wouldn't be too hard to implement some type of guessing algorithm, but that could become messy at some point.
