I would kill for a Macintosh Windows Media Encoder.
Here's a link to the
Macintosh Windows Media SDK available for free download from Microsoft. I think all it would take is for an aspiring programmer to compile a carbon app using this SDK that would accept Firewire audio/video inputs and then output the encoded stream to a Windows Media Server via HTTP. I'm no programmer, or I'd be trying to do this myself.
I know Mac users aren't typically excited about the Windows Media format, but having used it for several years I know from experiance that it's fantastic for low-bitrate video. Since there is no such live encoder like this available for the Mac, I'm turning to the development community hoping someone out there would like to take on this minor challenge... especially since all the libraries needed appear to be already written and available for download.
