Just out of curiosity has anyone ported Python to OSX yet? I don't want to re-invent the wheel if I try to compile it myself. Plus to be honest I don't know the differences between Darwin's locations for files and regular BSD.

However I think Python is so much better than Perl. Right now I do all my work on my Win box. I'd love to switch over to the Mac, however.

Yes, they have. I haven't tried it out on OS X final, but it worked on the PB for me. http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=9108

(I didn't install it into Final because it's a really ugly language and Perl serves all my needs).

Just compiled it last night. You can't do a straight "./configure; make", but it wasn't much harder. look at the README that comes with the latest beta. It has platform specific build instructions and OS X is mentioned there. Do as they say and you will be fine.
