Word has it that the December Dev Tools are now available to online members as well as Select and Premier.
I haven't been able to verify this, but that's what I've been told.

Hello ...
They're there.
However, I've now attempted to download the 217.9MB
file twice with IE, and the download stalls out *right*
*at* 217.9 MB.

Hmmm, I can't even log in. It says "The doors to connect.apple.com will be open shortly. We apologize for the interruption."

I got an e-mail from Apple about it this morning and decided to get it while most of the rest of the country was sleeping. It downloaded OK for me, only taking about 20-25 minutes on my AT&T Broadband cable connection (who says it's slower now than before the Excite@Home fiasco?). I haven't had a chance to install it yet, though.

I got it this morning around 7am (EST). Been at work all day, and haven't been able to use it, though.

Hello ...
Well, I couldn't even download one of the 10-MB segments completely (again a stall right at the end of the transfer) via my Road Runner cable connection. I went over to my workplace and used its fractional T-1 to download the full file in about 30 minutes. (This was about 3 a.m. Central Time, although my previous attempts began around midnight.)
I haven't yet had a chance to _do_ anything with the new tools, but the AppleScript Studio additions to Project Builder and Interface Builder are intriguing. (I opened up an example AS-S project for a look-see.) I'm not going to delve into AS-S much until I intall OS X 10.1.2, which is coming out ... when?

Use OmniWeb. It seems to do a better job downloading than IE, at least in my experience. I had no problem this evening.

I tried a couple of times to download, and each time I got the same problem you are having. It stalled right at the end.
However, now I have a worse problem. It seems that I can't even start the download anymore. I get a "Permission Denied" error.

I'm getting the same annoying 'access denied' messages. I've always struggled with this and ended up ftp'ing using 3d party software, but I don't remember how I did it the first time...

A quick followup:
I decided to try once more...but this time I clicked the Japan server radio button.
Lo and behold...it began downloading. Now to see if it finishes...

Access denied is simply their way of telling you the servers are overloaded, methinks.
As far as smart indents, WOOOO FRIGGIN' HOOO!! All they need is that smart "I know which message you want to send to me, the object, but I'll give you a list of all the messages you can send anyway" that Visual C has and I'll be happy as a clam.

Yeah, that's what I was going to guess...frustrating, still.

The Japan one works, but it's so slow...I don't think I'm desperate enough to wait 70+ hours on a broadband connection heh.

...which implies that your objects are statically typed...
in most cases, mine are, but the idea behind objective-c, in the end, is that you don't have to know about the types of your objects. -- which is what definitely distincts it from languages like java (pre 1.5) or c++ where you *always* have to know about the types of your objects.

Got it, using the Japan download link. I was surprised - it actually came in very quickly, probably because I did it at probably about 4:30 AM.
I've only skimmed over its features so far, but what looks really cool about it is that it looks like you can build AppleScript stuff into any Cocoa app by setting a script in the AppleScript pane of the Show Info window. People used to post questions to the developer mailing lists about how to send AppleScripts from a Cocoa App - now it's so easy to do that it's ridiculous.

I'm busy downloading now: average 2,6k/s. So it'll be a while before I'll have it. A long while

What I did was to go to Segments, and download them all at once, thus mimicking what most of those download accelerators do.

I got a kick out of Watson.app . Pretty slick stuff. Now, if only I could find time to learn all these neat toys.
