Disclaimer-I am huge Apple fan, but must rant.
Is it just me or does it appear that open-source is dying at Apple? I remember them throwing in their hat when 'open-source' became a buzz-word. The core of OS X is built upon Darwin, an open-sourced BSD derivitive. But why hasn't Apple's Darwin page been updated in a while? What development are underway for Darwin? It looks to me as though, since OS X came out, Apple is kind of forgetting about Darwin, and I think this is a stupid move. Darwin is the base of OS X, what makes is strong. They should *never* allow the development of Darwin even look like it's slowing down. Further improvements on OS X depend on Darwin's stregthening. Do y'all agree/disagree?
P.S. To let Darwin slow down, or worse, die is a slap in the face to those who helped develop it. If indeed it dies it will look like Apple used some open-source developers to build a foundation for their new system, only to leave them high and dry in the end.
