The Metrowerks web site implies that the soon-to-be released Code Warrior 6 WONT suppost Java Dev on OS X. Does anyone know if this is really correct?

You can still write and compile Java2 stuff with codewarrior 5/6 and run it on OS X. But, you might have trouble debugging, maybe that's why it's said not to work.

Having just received CodeWarrior 6, I installed CodeWarrior 6 on MacOS X and put in the MacOS X-specific pieces from the Reference Disk (Thrill Seekers/MacOS X Java Plugins).
I then opened one my old projects (This is in my quest to get my Java code that works under Unix, Windows, and MacOS Classic working under MacOS X where HotSpot seems to be a problem.), and let it be converted to the new format.
Everything compiles fine, but when I attempt to 'Make' the Jar, I get a link error:
"Link Error: Could not initialize Java VM. Make sure the JDK is installed properly."
even though I have replaced CW's Java Linker plugin with the new MacOS X one from the reference disk.
Has anyone gotten CW to link Java under MacOS X beta?

I actually have CW6 and Java working on MacOS X. I'm building and running a Java app which is GUI free (this may make a difference, depending on what Apple has supported).
Just like the CW docs say, if you want console output, you have to run from the command line, which is what I do. And sure enough, it works fine.

Do you have the JavaDoc Prelinker on? If so, turn it off.
If you can't finish linking because you get some message about the VM initing, this is most likely the result of trying to generate JavaDocs. CW just uses Java's JavaDoc tool, which is a Java app. Hence it needs to run the VM.
Hope this helps.

No, I can't get it to work either. When I use the Java Application wizard to make a new project it says the VM could not be opened and it could not make the source files.
Crap. Not like I'm going to run this thing in classic to make a jar.
I want code warrior rad tools on X to develop swing applications on X. The java cocoa thing is just to apple specific for me.
My primary machine at home is OS X. ya ya....I know its beta but I've been waiting for 10 years.

I'm sorry that I did not see this thread sooner.
Have you installed CWPro 6 according to the instructions on this thread, http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/Foru...ML/000067.html ?
Using the instructions I posted there, and with a correction from skipjack, I have CWPro 6 creating Java Projects just fine.
