To run JBuilder 3.5 Foundation on OS X, I did these steps:
1) I downloaded the PC version from Borland's site and installed it on a PC. Why on a PC? There's no installer for Mac yet...
2) Copy the installed directory to your Mac OS X disk. You don't need the JDK 1.2.2 directory since Java is already installed with Mac OS X.
3) Open a Terminal, go into JBuilder directory and type the following command :
java -cp lib/beandt3.1.jar:lib/jbcl3.1.jar:lib/dx3.1.jar:lib/jbuilder.jar:lib/pthelp3.1.jar:
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.2/Classes/jpda.jar com.borland.jbuilder.JBuilder
4) Don't take the warning about lwtoolkit into account.
5) In JBuilder, go to the Default Project properties to edit the JDK and add the classes.jar and ui.jar to the class tab. You can find these classes in the following directory :/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.2/Classes/

Have fun!

Any reason not to download the Linux version? Its tar.gz'd so you should be able to tar -zxvf it and then go from there.

I'll let you know if it works

I was able to make the Linux version of JBuilder 3.5 to work on Darwin with a little tweak of a couple of configuration files. I've encountered some negligible errors in the terminal window, but I don't think they would affect your development.

I've made the OS X Beta compatible version of JBuilder available on the web for anyone interested. Simply go to www.idrive.com and enter "Kasanoba" in "Visit an i-drive".

Download the file called "jbuilder3.5-MacOS_X_Beta.gz.tar" and extract it to your desired location. This will create a subdirectory called "jbuilder35". To run JBuilder, simply execute the shell script named "jbuilder".

You'll need to register on Borland's site (www.borland.com) to get the serial number and the key for JBuilder 3.5. You won't be able to run the IDE without these two information.

Please post back any other problems you may have encountered while using JBuilder. I certainly would like to know about them, too.

Kasanoba:

I get to your iDrive just fine and when I try to download Jbuilder it gives me a "time out" and sends me back to the start. I have tried it eight times on three different browsers, what's up?

You guys were right. I didn't know about the 150 MB per account download limit that iDrive imposes. That's a really stupid limitation. Anyway, I'll try to get iTools configured on my system and maybe I could just post it there. If not, I'll find some other ways to get it to you guys. Stay tuned.

Okay, my iDisk is working. Grab the jbuilder file from my FileSharing page:
