Hi,

I tried running CW6 on MacOS X. I copied over the plugins from the "Thrill Seekers" folders to the respective directories. But Metowerks is still unable to link my java library. It says :

"Link Error : Could not initialize Java VM. Make sure the JDK is installed properly."

Anyone run into this error before ?

thanks,
~S

Don't know much about programming and
haven't installed OS X yet, but ...

Is it possible that you need stuff from the Developer Tools? There's stuff that needs to be installed from there into CW to get Carbon support.

There is a workaround on the MRJ Mailing List.

Apparently, CodeWarrior is having trouble with paths under OSX. The workaround is to install CodeWarrior on a regular MacOS partition rather than on the MacOS X partition (Hopefully, you installed MacOS X on a separate partition).

I was having the same link error message as you no matter what I tried until, I tried this workaround. I wiped out my previous CodeWarrior installation and made a clean installation on my MacOS 9.0.4 partition under MacOS 9.0.4. I then rebooted into MacOS X and installed the Java items in the Thrill Seekers folder. Now, I can finally program in Java with CodeWarrior under MacOS X.

Now I have OS X installed and have encountered the same problem and used the above recommendation. The only thing I have to add is that I had to do the installation and transfer of the Thrill Seekers files using OS 9. When I tried to copy the Thrill Seekers files while in OS X, I couldn't get CW to work (could not find the Java linker).
