Just thought I'd mention for those interested in WebObjects who don't already know...

Apple has posted a pretty decent and thorough tutorial-style introduction to HTML-based WebObjects.

Check it out at... http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/...gWO/index.html

For a beginner-intermediate level WO developer (wannabe), I found that it filled in a lot of the gaps in my understanding of WO. And nice Aqua screen shots. Hopefully, more are in the works (looks like there are more coming)!

I've been working with WO 5 on Mac OS X, and have been loving it. My biggest complaint about WO previously has been the frustratingly horrendous documentation available.

BTW... WO 5 looks great in Aqua. And it fits right in with the new Project Builder. For those Obj C or Java developers, this is the ultimate web development environment - honest!

Can you write WO5 application thingies in Obj-C? I thought it was Java-only now :/

WO5 can only be developed in Java now. No Obj-C. There is a WO-specific JavaConverter. I wonder how it would work on std obj-c apps (I don't write in Obj-c, so haven't really tested it).

But more to the point of this thread, I really would never describe WebObjects as being well documented AT ALL. It's confusing after attending all of the iServices courses. It's incredibly powerful, though.

Yeah, sorry I was a little unclear about that. WO5 is Java only. I had in mind that at least the Project Builder IDE would be familiar to Obj-C folks.

Also, as pointed out in a previous post, there is a converter that supposedly takes Obj-C WO code and converts to Java, but I have no experience with it.

The docs might be enough for building web sites, learning EO, and learning how to deploy a project from within Project Builder.

But I couldn't find any docs on how to admin WO (such as WO Adaptor, WO configurations, test the availability of WO with JavaService and wotaskd and blah)

Do you know where they are? They are definitely not here...
