First of all, let me state that I have no intention of implementing this, and I am only asking for intellectual purposes...
In light of the absence of a dvd player for OS X, how hard would it be to port DeCSS to OS X?

there will be a dvd player for OS X final, it would be stupid of Apple not to include one.

Absolutely!
But of course the Apple solution is unlikely to let you cut & paste footage from DVDs into your own iDVD projects...
Just think, you could put Pulp Fiction into the right order, or take the scary bits out of Alien for your kids.
Will the MPAA sue me for suggesting that?

Kind of ironic to see this OLD post in the light of OS X 10.0. Does anyone have any real experience working with the source? I have been trying to get something going, but it appears to rely on kernel-level calls.
There are the perl routines qrpff. They require something called a "title key". I don't know what that means, but it appears that to get the "title keys" you need a program called "decvob" (or "vobdec") that uses the kernel-level calls.
It's just an interesting project...
