I've been trying to re-install my Dev Tools to fix some problems I've been having. The installer says "COuldn't write bom to path". I deleted the /Developer directory, and tried the "fixPrecomps" trick, to no avail. Any ideas?

Nevermind, I found the answer in a post from last September. Download the Developer Tools, but don't let Stuffit unstuff them. Instead, use:
gnutar -xzvf filename
All then works fine...

It also says that right on Apple's download site for the Dev Tools.
You could use either the terminal or openup from stepwise.com

This is a Mac. I'm supposed to read instructions?!?!
I'm used to advoiding Stuffit with OSX, but usually it won't decompress at all. And I must have read the instructions the first time I installed the Developer tools and just forgotten. Oh well.

Something else that works is booting into 9 (not Classic mode) and unstuffing the tools there. Not sure why that works and X or Classic doesn't. But its worked for me everytime.
