I'm having trouble getting the CodeWarrior MetroNubX debugger to execute under 4K29.

When launched, for a fraction of second the Dock makes space for MetroNubX's icon, but then it abruptly quits.

In previous builds it's been okay, apart from having to overcome "can't connect" / "timeout" / "PowerPC exception" debugger problems, but the tricks to get around those haven't helped here.

Why I care - I've just found that showing a certain dialog in a carbonized app causes a complete crash in 4K29, where it was fine in 2E14. I'd like to get to the bottom of it, since I figure 4K29 behavior is likely closer to Final than a November Beta.

(Needless to say, I'm the sort of programmer who becomes very unproductive without a GUI debugger to step through code.)

Help appreciated!

... So use Project Builder's built in debugger. It's free and should work.

Except that it DOESN'T ON ILLEGALLY OBTAINED PRIVATE INTERNAL RELEASES OF OS X. If you want it to work, don't use 4K29. Simple. Either go back to the PB or wait until the final. Come on, only 1 month 19 days to go!

Because I'd like to be able to offer for download on Day 1 an app that doesn't crash when its preferences dialog is shown.

Is there no logic to my thinking that 4K29 is closer to GM than the Beta built in September?

Is there anyone who doesn't want to just beat me with a moral club who can answer more comprehensively why MetroNubX isn't working on 4K29?

Following the mothership's lead, Metrowerks released an patch to a select few. And, no, I'm not talking about 6.1...

Great isn't it! Apple and Metrowerks take care of the important people, and leave the little guys to wait patiently in the dark.

Ho hum, I might just brush up on my MS Visual Studio while I am waiting...

Yeah...I agree....I think that anyone who bitches at anyone trying to push progress should be flogged!

It's not my fault I want to push the edge. To anyone who wants to tell me to go back to using PB.

I WOULD IF THEY WOULD RELEASE AN UPDATE TO THE JDK THAT ISN'T SO JACKED UP!!! DAMMIT!!!

I bought the BETA, and I will buy the release.
And there exists no language in the license agreement for the BETA that precludes me from legally running updates to the BETA.
And since the splash screen for 4K33 says "MAC OS X PUBLIC BETA", then I am justified in running it and you can quit whining.
