I love that interface element, but can't find it documented, listed as an NS call, or in the InterfaceBuilder pallet anywhere. Can anyone help me know where it is or how to use it?
Or is Apple already breaking their own rules by using non-standard interface elements?

You can probably do it using a custom NSView. I don't think that there is a documented API anywhere in order to do anything like that.

Other than the basic NSTabView, I don't think any of those widgets are in the standard kits. At WWDC last May, Apple mentioned their rule that all Apple apps must use standard UI elements, and said that these widgets would find their way into AppKit (vertical tabs being added to NSTabView, the sliding effect added to NSSplitView or something, etc). I'm not sure how much of that (if any) had been added by the time of Public Beta, or if anything has been added since.

I asked on the Omni mailing list, they said that it's a PB-only thing right now :-(
