I have used a program called AudioGalaxy on SuSE PPC. Now with OS X being close to linux, how does one port a small program from Linux to OS X?

Or, better yet. Has anyone ported AudioGalaxy to OS X? Does anyone know where I can get the img?

Check it out, www.audiogalaxy.com

If the source is available, download it and have a BASH (oh the hilarity) at compiling. There's lots of porting hints available, for example on the newbies thread that's further down on here... Ooh I must bring it back to the top

If its relatively easy to port programs from Linux to OS X, how about drivers? I am thinking about the Alcatel USB SpeedTouch ADSL modem, for which there is a Linux Driver, but none for OS X in sight.

For US viewers, USB ADSL (PPPoA) is going the main way to get broadband in the home, in the UK.

OS X uses a completely different driver architecture than Linux. You would probably need to learn IOKit and rewrite parts of it to talk to the hardware in a way that OS X understands. There's an example of porting a BSD driver to OS X... BenH's wavelan driver (see http://www.darwinfo.org/ for a first draft - it doesn't actually work yet, I don't think).

So basically... It's possible but it will probably require quite a lot of work.
