Currently, I have a tri-boot system setup on my Powerbook G3: MacOS X on hda12, MacOS 9.0.4 on hda9 and SuSE Linux on hda10. I use classic from a MacOS 9.1 system folder on the same partition as MacOS X (hda12) but would also like to boot in that OS 9.1 partiton using os-chooser. Here's the problem:

When I look in open firmware after selecting hda12 MacOS X or hda12 MacOS 9.1 from the "system disk" control panel, the "boot-device" environment variable is the same, both looking for \\:tbxi on hda12.

What does the startup disk control panel set to let the mac know which system from the partition to boot into?

How could I set this in OS-Chooser?

Thanks for any information.

Sincerely,

Paul Burney http://paulburney.com/

Just hazarding a guess but maybe the Startup Disk control panel "blesses" the selected System Folder... I don't know how you'd do that from OF though. Perhaps you should ask on darwin-development@lists.apple.com - there's a few OpenFirmware-savvy people there.
