How can an AppleScript tell if it is running in OS 9 or in OS X's Classic mode?

I'm writing a script and I want it to terminate if it is running in Classic mode, but run to completion if in OS 9 (native).

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Geneva, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">if (((version of application finderApp) as string) starts with &quot;9.&quot then</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Geneva, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif">
