Hi
There is not a OS X version of Y! Messenger, but I have seen that there are download options for LINUX and FreeBSD.
I do not know how to get a FreeBSD program to compile and run under Darwin...anyone willing to help me to get this program work under OS X? Or am I out of luck, and this program is 'unportable'?
It would be wonderful to have this running native under OS X...
Thank you.
On a different note, how can one port a FreeBSD application into OS X? Where should I start?

Musti --
Fire is an app that has Yahoo! Messenger capabilities (as well as AIM, MSN, and maybe others? I haven't looked at it in a while ...). There's really no need to port this software IMHO as an Fire is considered a great application by almost everyone using Mac OS X.

ruttopia, that is true, Fire is a very good app indeed. but I think I cannot send 'offline' messages with Fire's Yahoo service, and I also think Yahoo Messenger's interface is better. Plus, that is the only IM I use...if only there was a way or someone who could show me how to play with the LINUX/FreeBSD version to work under OS X...

You can't. The FreeBSD and Linux versions are released as pre-compiled binaries, with no source available. This means that you can't compile it under OS X since you don't have the source to compile it from. You could always use the Java version, I guess.
