Can anyone offer help on how to port a Quicktime codec to OS X? Specifically, the Indeo codecs available for Classic Quicktime, version 3-5. They're available on Apple's website here:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/indeo/
They're some of the most used codecs for AVIs, although the newer, better, MS-exclusive codecs are being used more and more. Without Indeo support, AVIs on Mac OS X will only work if they're encoded with Cinepak. I've contacted Ligos, the maintainers of Indeo, and they say they have no plans to updatethe PC or Mac versions of Indeo.
Based on looking at the Mac OS X 3ivx codec and comparing it to the Mac OS Classic version, the cdec resource is just moved (to the data fork perhaps?) and perhaps some minor changes are made. As of now, watching most AVIs requires launching Classic and Quicktime 5 for Mac OS Classic.
Any insight or pointers to documents on Apple's website would be appreciated.
