The X Themination project needs a developer. Our main one has vanished for no reason. He was working on a section that converts the pxm# resource to a pict for editing. The application is cocoa. We would pay you... if we had money... we might make enough to pay you. We really really need your help, without it the project is dead
Thanks,
Matthew

A link to a specific site might help your cause... but to be frank...
You have no developer... You can't pay... Yet you say when 'you' make money you might be able to pay... Make money selling the software that someone else wrote for free?! (this is what I'd have to assume). Don't get me wrong but I don't see who would sign-up for such a thing.
People develop free software 'for the fun/fame' of it.. People develop pay software 'for the profit'. I'm not sure who you'd get to code for free only to have the software sold for a profit...
Fact is... if they were to do that why wouldn't they just sell the software on their own and keep all the profits?
Then again maybe my assumptions are wrong... Maybe a link to a web site would help to clear such things up...

I agree! The original post is highly illogical. What's the deal with Apple and the legality of themes for OS X anyway?

I didn't think people would be so quick to accuse me, so let me clarify. We will sell the software, but until then I can't pay anyone. When we start selling, and I'm talking for like $10, the members will get paid. We are doing this for fun and demand, money is on afterthought.

One other thing: we have developers. Maybe no one gets this idea but no individual of this group could do it. On top of that our software is opensource, we would ask for donations but no one would do that. Another thing, we may choose to put the money back to the project in the form of a .com and such. Can you make themes? No. With ThemeShop you and eveyone else can... without the fuss. We are also doing what no one else has the guts to do... face Apple. We consult the group as a whole when we do anything... we don't have employees... without one the group the whole group fails. Our site is at http://www.chook.net/themeshop/
People are giving back to the Mac community by helping us and other like projects.
Thanks,
Matthew

Er. Theminator was killed by Apple. What makes you think a commercial piece of software that blatantly says '____ Apple!' is going to live longer?
Heroic or not, I don't think you want to face lawsuits from Apple. But that's just my opinion.

Were heroic because we aren't scared of Apple... and were really good at hiding. The idea is that if we can have one very big release enough people will get it and pass it along... a larger version of what is happening with Sprocket and Theminator. There is also plenty (I have a known group in mind when I say this) of people willing to provide cash and lawyers for us... if it ever came to that. Like it or not, some way somehow this is gonna work... period. Our software isn't commercial... either way we have ways to make it and distribute it underground. Have you ever actually ASKED Dave why he basically gave into Apple? Well I have. He was in a comflict of intrest... either his Job at Adobe or Theminator.... which would you give up? He is now doing what he loves.... porting Adobe applications to Mac OS X. If you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything Nough'said
