Anyone interested in developing/running JSPs and/or Java Servlets should check out instructions I wrote for setting up Resin (Caucho's Servlet/JSP engine) on OS X. The instructions are a complete and detailed step-by-step walkthrough that will guide you from compilation to setting up Startup Items scripts to launch Resin at boot. Resin is a high performance JSP/Servlet engine that integrates seemlessly with OS X's built-in Apache server.
The HOW-TO is posted at:
http://www.jspformacs.com/articles/Resin-HOW-TO.pdf for the PDF version, and:
http://www.jspformacs.com/articles/Resin-HOW-TO.html for the html version.
Thanks to Lou for posting them on his site: JSP for Macs! Which, by the way, is a great place to start if you want more info on the topic.

Thanks, Kristoff.

I've been running Resin since you posted your instructions, but with one caveat : I have to manually start Resin after each reboot. I followed your StartupItems directions, but to no avail.

I have Sharity running just fine, but it doesn't even have an entry in /etc/hostconfig

Thanks for the instructions.

I agree, those instructions are pretty good. May I dare suggest another project? How about getting J2EE running -the Pet Shop and all that other good stuff that goes with it. I have Enhydra running great but I still would like to see the J2EE reference platform up and going on our MacOS X boxes.

Unfortunately, no.

And, I no longer use Resin either.

I use JBoss/Jetty, which is a Full J2EE stack.

There's also this nice installer package for Tomcat 4.1.12 <http://www.versiontracker.com/morein...637&db=mac> that makes setting up an environment for JSP deployment super simple.
