I am developing a Carbon application and getting ready for release. I've mostly gotten the app down to CarblonLib 1.0 calls.

The question is, what was the first model Mac and OS bundle to include CarbonLib? Hunted around on developer.apple.com for a while but didn't seem to find this info.

I only really expect to support back to 8.6...Did it have a CarbonLib?

You can use a Gestalt to check if CarbonLib is installed and if it isn't you can pop up a dialog telling them where to get it -- I think CarbonLib 1.0 works as far back as 8.1, but it's not shipped as standard.

I did some poking with my OS 8.1 and 8.5 CD's. I guess Carbon wasn't out when the 8.6 update (or 8.5 release) came about.

I'd kinda like the app to run unmodified on the Bondi Blue iMac but I don't suppose it matters a whole lot one way or the other.
