Hi there. First time posting here.

In iTunes I accidently hit yes when it asked if I wanted to move everything to the trash (I was clearing out my Library to re-add everything).

I considered myself very lucky to recover all my songs (2279 of them) from ~/.Trash

Now they're a mess. All in one folder.

I'd like to write a script that would create a directory structure (or even use my old one, its still there) from the ID3 tags (I ripped most of it myself so most of it was properly tagged).

To do this, I need to know how to look in the tags.

I really appreciate any / all help.

I look forward to your responses.

If you like perl, there are ID3 modules available for it. Check CPAN.

It might just be easier to use MP3 Rage to organize them. I used MP3 rage on my downloaded mp3s in one folder and it organized them like iTunes does when you rip cds.
