What do you want to learn?
If you have OS X, and installed the dev tools you have some books in pdf form already on your hard drive.

Well, there aren't very many books that just teach general "programming." You'll have to choose a language you want to learn. If you're interested in C, I'd recommend "The C Programming Language" by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie, the guys behind C. It's concise, complete, and you know they know what they're talking about. And C is a very useful language. Besides being popular itself, it's also the basis for other popular languages like C++ and Java--not to mention OS X's native language, Objective-C.
But personally--and this is just my opinion--I'd suggest trying a simpler language first. C is fairly low-level, and thus not as easy to wrap your head around as other languages like BASIC and Java. Maybe try designing a Web page and controlling it with JavaScript. That will help get some of the fundamental concepts into your head without the difficulty you'll find in C.
