Is it possible to get the G++ compiler running on OS X? If so, where would I go to get it?

I thought they used a similar, but non-GPL compiler.

No, it's gcc, but with a lot of Apple modifications applied to it. Supposedly Apple's mods will be rolled into gcc v3.1 or so.

Not all of them will: FSF has rejected some of their patches.

Yup, but the FSF has *accepted* the majority of them... which if you've been following the FSF/Apple situation for any amount of time, is just plain amazing. (The FSF has traditionally *DESPISED* Apple, specifically stating that they wouldn't even host a gcc port to the old MacOS, even if someone else did all the work.)

The differences, however, between the gcc downloadable from the FSF and the gcc that ships with MacOS X, are vanishing with every release.
